VANDE BHARAT: The Lifeline of India

Speed-that is what the world needs. And globalization today has stressed that without speed and convenience, the World won’t move on whether it be us, our vehicles Etc. as we know that modern days require modern solutions, hence the need of a at least semi-high-speed trains became a necessity rather than a need.

Earlier, there were fast passenger trains similar to that of Shatabdi express and other superfast express where the railways had challenges due to up gradation of the tracks and coaches in order to enhance the safety which pushed back India due to lack of high sped service The Vande Bharat Express is a new to the High-Speed trains.

Vande Bharat Express is a medium-distance train service operated by Indian Railways. Similar to Shatabdi Express, these are day train services that connect Indian cities which are less than 10 hours apart. Vande Bharat trainsets can achieve semi-high speeds, but due to speed restrictions, multiple stoppages and traffic congestion, the maximum permissible speed of the services is limited to 160 km/h (99 mph) on a section of the Delhi-Bhopal service, and 110–130 km/h (68–81 mph) on other services.

These trains were launched in15 February 2019 through New Delhi –Varanasi route as the first one followed by Delhi-Katra routes launched that year itself. As of now, Vande Bharat series operate 35 routes the popular routes including the famous Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod route which has a daily occupancy of 200%. And also, the average occupancy rate is around 99% which is a good sign.

So, if we ask about the features, Vande Bharat is focused on providing Quality, comfort and safety for the passengers. Here, there are two classes namely the Executive Chair Car and Chair Car of former being 2-2 and later being 3-2. More than the comfort, Vande Bhart aims to provide an experience where you could even rotate your chair 180 degree to the windows which is highly appreciated. The main USP of Vande Bharat is Speed where speed goes up to 160 kms per hour.

Inspired by the Success of The Vande Bharat Brand, The Indian Railways has decided to introduce the following types of trains as a part of the Vande Series which are the following:

  •  Vande Sadharan (Amrit Bharat Express) - The non-A/C variant of Vande Bharat, this is primarily focused on no frills travel. Unlike Vande bharat, This train does not have automatic doors and complimentary foods as in normal Vande Bharat but has features such as CCTV and bio-toilets. The maximum speed is 130 km per hour and is set to launch on 30th December 2023 and it consists of mainly sleeper class compartments and general class compartments. Unlike normal non-a/c trains, it will have sealed gangways, which provides a greater degree of safety and also, sensor based taps. Which is considered to be a great innovation. Amrit Bharat mainly implies on Long Haul routes which are more than 10 hours.

  • Vande Sleeper- Built upon the success of Vande Bharat, the Vande sleeper is completely focused on long haul routes which takes comfort to another level. It consists of First a/c which aims to be like  the business class in wide-body jets, and the usual A/C two tier coaches and three tier coaches. This is still in the development stage.

  • ·         Vande Metro- Here, It aims to replace Memu services and it is built to connect nearby cities which is beneficial for the working class people and students who wanted to go to their offices and universities. Since, this is semi- high speed, a lot of time is saved so that, they can reach their places Early.

So , here, I am going to express my opinion here on Vande Bharat and the impact of the semi high speed rail in the economy of the nation.

1.     faster flow of goods and services which helps country to save a lot of money in transportation which can increase margins and lead to growth.

2.     More opportunities means more revenue which is translated into higher returns.

3.     Vande Bharat almost can connect any part of India which is beneficial in long term.

4.     So, therefore I would like to say that vande Bharat can help in bringing prosperity at the next level.

5.    This is kind of train which people wanted demanding faster connectivity and as a result, improves the business and helps in development of the nation.
